Facebook Testing Short Video Feature In India

Facebook started to test its new short video feature in the app to take advantage of TikTok being banned in India and proposed to be banned in the US.

However, the Facebook-owned app, Instagram also has a similar feature called Reels. Reels were launched just immediately after the ban of TikTok in India last month.

The social media giant has confirmed that it is testing the feature in India, which is its biggest market. You can find the Short Video option in the middle of your news feeds.

A Facebook spokesperson said in an interview with Techcrunch, "We’re always testing new creative tools so we can learn about how people want to express themselves. Short-form videos are extremely popular and we are looking at new ways to provide this experience for people to connect, create, and share on Facebook."

The interface of the Short Video is just similar to that of TikTok. You can create a short video, add music to them, and share it among your friends. This feature might not have appeared to all the users but we could find the feature in our Facebook app.

Facebook-owned TikTok alternative Lasso is currently available in the US, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Panama, El Salvador, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Uruguay.
